5 things you must consider before buying a standing desk online

1. Stability

Stability is the single most important factor. A desk that wobbles front-to-back or side-to-side disrupts work and reduces lifespan. Key measures to check:

• Net weight — a stable 1200mm model should weigh at least 57kg; beware models specified at 50kg or less.
• Leg column size — choose frames with a minimum column of 80mm x 50mm to ensure a rigid foundation.

2. Electronics

Reliable electronics let you customise height smoothly and will affect long-term performance. Look for:

• 100% ageing test qualified and auto fault detection
• Surge immunity and ESD protection
• Warranty on electronic components of at least 5 years

3. Weight capacity
